Adventures in PAC-ing

Whew, what a week. After several reads of Virginia's Campaign Finance Disclosure Act, calls to the Virginia Department of Elections and the IRS, and several visits to the bank, we're able to get our paperwork off to the Board of Elections, and are now officially operating as a Political Action Committee!

May is here: conventions resolutions, delegate news, and we're forming a PAC!

Hello everyone. Recently it seems lke I've been juggling so many balls up in the air right now, and I just wanted to give a quick update to everyone to let you all know what's going on with the Revolution this coming month.

Site updates

We require admin approval of new user accounts, and we're getting a number of bot-generated spam accounts in our lists. To combat this, we have added a CAPTCHA to the new user account form. Hopefully this will stop the spam accounts, if not, further changes will be need.

We've also fixed the time zone and set date and time displays to match US standards.

DPVA District Conventions -- nominees and resolutions

The convention delegate selection process for localities under the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) wrapped up this past Saturday and Monday, and it's time for us to start focusing on the Congressional District (CD) conventions coming up next month. The CD conventions, which will be held on May 7th, 14th, or 21st, will select the district representatives to the Democratic National Committee convention this July in Philadelphia, where the actual Democratic Presidential nominee will be selected.

DPVA Convention update: locality caucuses and beyond

We've seen a lot of Bernie supporters brought to the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) delegate process for the first time this cycle, and there's a lot of confusion as to what is going on and what people need to do. We've been seeing a lot of questions on Facebook about locality caucuses and  how they work, so we've put together this post to try and answer all of those questions in one place.

Upcoming Elections

Many Virginia cites and towns will be holding elections for Mayor and Council Offices on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates has passed and the candidate lists are available up on the Virginia Department of Elections website. Most localities do not require party affiliation, so most all of these candidates are running as independents, with the exceptions being Democrats in Roanoke, and a few Republicans in Lynchburg and Crewe.

Mission update: general plans and solicitations

I just wanted to thank everyone who has already expressed interest here at I was a bit surprised to see so many people already created user accounts, and I just wanted to take a few minutes to let people know what our plans are and solicit your feedback.
